Porsche 911 Turbo body kit by Misha Design
Engineers at Los Angeles-based tuning firm Misha Design have created a new GTM aero kit for the Porsche 997 Turbo. While some aspects of the kit may be desirable, by and large the package makes the once elegant car look like an insect.
For example, the smooth stock hood of the car is replaced with a new version that has a raised, rectangular area running up the middle. This might look good on an American muscle car, but on the curvaceous 997 it just looks out of place. The optional carbon fiber blades sticking up out of the hood look like antennae while the front bumper fascia resembles that of the TechArt’s 911 Turbo GTStreet.
Even though it may look ugly, at least the carbon fiber diffuser and venturi gills integrated into the rear bumper are functional. Not only do the parts help reduce weight, but they work to increase down force at the back. Also at the back, the new rear wing works with the car’s OEM function, and raises up or down depending on the vehicle’s speed.
Ultimately, the functional capabilities of the new front lower lip, hood vanes, and rear bumper are simply not worth ruining the look of the car.
