Michael Bay’s Need for Speed The Run commercial

We’ve been posting a good bit about Need For Speed’s new racer coming out on November 15th. The demo, although minimal, is outstanding. Everything you’ve seen or heard has been true. Audio and visuals are stunning. NFS requested Michael Bay’s help on a trailer for the game. Yes, that Michael Bay. It came up nothing short of amazing. 2010 Salon Prive Concours d’ Elegance

This week, revelers in the southwest London suburb of Fulham welcomed a bevy of classic and rare cars during the Salon Prive 2010 Concours d’ Elegance. Those attending the fourth addition of the event saw more than 50 different vehicles on the lawn of the Hurlingham private club, with each car placed into one of seven categories.
In our massive photo gallery from the event, you can see modern warriors, like the Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing and Lamborghini Gallardo, but also many of their historic counterparts. Bugatti and Alfa Romeo models built before World War II were on display, including the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, as were several Maserati models built while Adolfo Orsi helmed the brand.
2012 Opel Astra OPC gets 280 horsepower, 155 mph top speed

We ogled the curvaceous Opel Astra GTC at Frankfurt, but this is the one we’ve really been waiting for: TheOPC version. Standing for Opel Performance Center, “OPC” is similar to the Honda ”Type R” or BMW ”M” nomenclature, although not nearly as well known. The 2012 Astra OPC could change that in a hurry.
GM’s European division has really done a number on the compact hatchback to make it worthy of the badge, dropping a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four with direct injection underhood. The 280-horsepower engine is also good for 295 lb-ft of torque, and GM says the Astra OPC can do all of 155 mph. Like the Astra GTC, the OPC uses the HiPerStrut front suspension with adjustable dampers, steering and throttle, thanks to the FlexRide control system. But the top-of-the-line Astra model adds a limited-slip front differential to help control all that turbo torque. Brembo brakes, special front and rear fascias, dual exhaust, performance seats, a special steering wheel and new instrumentation round out the OPC package. Read more…

BTCC: Brands perfect place to start

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship’s top two names, Jason Plato and Matt Neal, say that Brands Hatch in Kent is the ideal circuit for the UK’s premier motor racing spectacle to get its new season under way this coming Sunday (3 April).
The pair, both double champions, are set to renew their long and intense rivalry this weekend at the world-famous circuit near Dartford where a bumper crowd is anticipated – last October, 42,000 people came through the gates to see Plato secure his second BTCC title.
And while often in the past they have disagreed on many things, Plato and Neal are united in the view that Brands Hatch’s short Indy circuit, on which the first three BTCC races of 2011 will take place on Sunday under the glare of live ITV Sport cameras, is the perfect venue at which to stage the championship’s opening event of the year. Race day tickets for adults are still available until midday this Wednesday (30 March) for as little as £25 (visit www.brandshatch.co.uk or tel. 0843 453 9000) while admission for children is FREE – that includes access to a specially organized autograph session with the BTCC’s star drivers in the Brands Hatch pit lane.
