Nicky Pastorelli / Dominik Schwager, All-Inkl.com

A night set in at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, Nicky Pastorelli nailed a 1:51.668 to take pole and give Lamborghini its first ever in GT1. Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager switched off for the 3 qualifying sessions, with a third in Q1, and first in both Q2/Q3. The no37 All-Inkl Munnich Motorsport Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV ran flawless, leaving the field more than half a second back in the end.

The Aston Martin’s were running quite well over the 3 sessions but never managed to best the Lamborghini’s. The team of Stefan Mucke and Darren Turner will start on row one with the no37 All-Inkl car. Read more…

FIA GT1: Crash takes out pole sitter All-Inkl Lamborghini

FIAGT1 All-Inkl Lamborghini

Ridiculous start to the FIA GT1 season. Tomas Enge missed his breaking point, hitting the no41 Ford GT an spun. This resulted in a huge chain reaction which led the no37, ultra fast, pole sitting All-Inkl Lamborghini Murcielago LP 760 R-SV to slam into the Aston Martin. Game over with not one lap completed. We’ve never been fans of Enge’s since his days of ALMS.

Congrats to Maxime Martin and Frederic Makowiecki for their win. Complete race report after the jump.

Ford Marc VDS Racing’s Maxime Martin and Frederic Makowiecki claimed a hard-earned victory in today’s qualifying race, resisting heavy pressure from the No. 22 Nissan JRM to triumph in the first race of the season. Read more…

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 orders exceed expectations

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

The revolutionary Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, has achieved sales representing far more than one year’s production also due to strong motor show reception. That momentum, which began at VIP customer previews in late-2010, now continues at www.Aventador.com, where brand enthusiasts have the opportunity to configure the high-tech, lightweight Aventador’s exterior and interior color to their preference, while viewing the newest brand film teasing the €255,000 flagship.

“Interest in the Aventador has been unprecedented and we have orders for far more than one year. Before customer deliveries begin in the second half of 2011, customers and brand enthusiasts can visit the Aventador microsite to receive a glimpse into the wealth of personalization opportunities available with the new V12 super sports car,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “Although we prefer to leave the complete customization process to a one-on-one experience with a Lamborghini retailer, the microsite is the perfect interactive tool for enthusiasts who want to test different options and styles for a truly personalized Lamborghini.”

The microsite also features full technical specifications, standard equipment, options and a full directory of official Lamborghini dealerships around the globe.

The Aventador LP 700-4 is the sixth generation Lamborghini V12 model. The stunning vehicle redefines the pinnacle of the luxury super sports car market, combining high power, outstanding lightweight engineering and phenomenal handling precision. Its innovative monocoque made entirely from carbon fiber results in a low dry weight of only 3,472 pounds (1.575 kilos) – a 199 pound (90 kilos) weight-savings versus its predecessor. Combined with this low weight, the Aventador’s new 700 horsepower V12 engine and Independent Shift Rod transmission provide breathtaking performance – 0-100 Km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 Km/h (217 mph). A Formula 1-inspired pushrod suspension and all-wheel drive system provide precise handling and stability at the very highest speeds. Read more…

First Look: Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador in 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Lamborghini has always been known for building hairy-chest-pounding, unapologetic supercars. The kind of cars that make enthusiasts tingle and environmentalists draw on posterboard with big black markers. It was a bit of a shock when Lamborghini recently announced an initiative to increase the efficiency of its Raging Bulls, and fans of Sant’ Agata’s creations cringed at the thought of smaller, less-powerful cars. Well, they can put their fears to rest, because the new Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador is as monstrous as any Lambo in history — and it’s more efficient to boot.

The Aventador follows the traditions of the Countach, first produced in 1974. The body is sculpted around the passenger compartment, with the longitudinally mounted 6.5-liter 690-horsepower naturally aspirated V-12 situated in the middle. The look is modern and aerodynamic, but still purely Lamborghini. Driver and passenger enter through scissor doors and the optional clear engine cover allows owners to show off the heart of the beast. The roofline is sculpted to allow for maximum headroom for passengers while tying in the character lines on the hood and minimizing the aerodynamic frontal area. Mechanically operated side intakes are carried over from the Murcielago, allowing air flow to be adjusted based on the engine’s current needs.

The heavy-breathing V-12 is a brand-new design for the Aventador. The most powerful version of the Murcielago was the 670-4 Super Veloce with 661-horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. Lamborghini has topped that with the 690 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque in the Aventador. Not only is there more power, but it is more usable at lower RPMs. The big news is that it does these stratospheric numbers while using 20% less fuel, translating into 20% fewer carbon dioxide emissions.

The clean sheet, aluminum block V-12 features direct injection, variable valve timing, four individual throttle bodies, dry sump lubrication, and an 11.8:1 compression ratio. The big engine has a screaming high 8250 RPM redline accomplished using lightweight internal components and a high bore-to-stroke ratio of 95mm and 76.4mm respectively. Maximum piston speeds have been reduced from almost 24 m/s at 8000 RPM, the Murcielago’s redline, compared to 21 m/s at 8250 RPM at the Aventador’s redline, resulting in fewer frictional losses. It also uses a new dry sump lubrication system that requires less power, provides better oil scavenging under high cornering loads, and decreases the size of the oil pan. The new system also allows the 518-pound engine to sit 2.36 inches lower in the car, reducing the center of gravity height.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 2011

How to summarize a decade using a few numbers. In 2001, the horses were 580, now 700. In 2001, the acceleration of 0-100 km / h was covered in 3.8 seconds, now 2.9. In 2001 … better stop here, stop the comparisons, not to be disrespectful to the Murcielago. We think today, the new sedan with a V12 engine. So welcome Aventador LP700-4. Welcome by that name a bit ’so, a new example of bullfighting (a bull Aventador was awarded the “Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera”following the fighting in the arena of Zaragoza), although less exciting and more complicated than many Miura , Countach, Diablo and Murcielago precisely. Welcome with all your technical and technological solutions from frame to engine, suspension from the exchange rate system to the new media bill.

The LP700-4 Aventador measuring 4.78 meters in length, 2.26 in width (including outside mirrors), and only 1.13 in height, for a mass of 1575 kg distributed with 43:57 ratio of the sum and result of considerable prestige among the various components: the monocoque weighs 147.5 pounds, just complete the 229.5 frame, the 6.5-liter V12 does not exceed the 235 pounds and change ISR merely 79 kg. The Aventador LP700-4 uses carbon fiber and composite materials in large quantities, which helped to contain the emission of pollutants (-20%, 398 g / km CO2) than the Murcielago despite a considerable increase in performance. In fact, the twelve-cylinder delivers 700 hp at 8,250 rpm and 690 Nm at 5,500 rpm, values that allow power to reach a weight of 2.25 kg / hp. The idea 0-100 km / h is then burned in 2.9 seconds and top speed exceeding 350 km / h. Read more…

LA 2010: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante

Lamborghini didn’t commandeer a space at the LA Auto Show itself, preferring to host an exclusive gathering across town for the reveal of the Gallardo Spyder Performante. As usual, even though we’re speaking of a subtly tweaked Gallardo Spyder whose finest revelations couldn’t even be seen, it was worth the trip.

The lightweight droptop sheds more than 140 pounds versus the standard offering, and gains a meaner visage to make its point. The eye candy that could be seen – additional eye candy, that is – was wrapped in Alcantara and carbon fiber, and would you get a look at those tailpipes…

In fact, enough with the words – feast your eyes on the gallery of high-res photos below live from Lambo’s exclusive party.

Paris Motor Show 2010: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept in detail

Last night we gave you the first look at Lamborghini‘s new Sesto Elemento, a concept car that demonstrates the company’s latest technologies. At the time we didn’t have the opportunity to get a close look at many of the car’s details, but we’re making up for it today with plenty of new photos and more info.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept, rear viewIf there’s one thing that caught our attention about the Sesto Elemento, it’s the weight. Lamborghini was able keep its curb weight to 999 kg, or 2,202 lbs, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastics. The entire car is essentially constructed from the lightweight materials including the monocoque, front frame, body panels, major suspension components and wheels. With a 570-horsepower V10 mounted behind the cockpit, the San Elemento has just 3.86 pounds to push for every horsepower. Lamborghini claims a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/hr, or 186 mph.

Lamborghini Cnossus student design concept

The Lamborghini Cnossus is the work of Victor Filipchenko (along with colleague Nelson Simoes) who created the project as part of his thesis work at the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, Italy to earn a Master’s Degree in automotive design.

The project was developed with the blessings of the storied Italian supercar maker. With a vague assignment to simply design a race car, Filipchenko took inspiration from the Lamborghini Countach (1974-1990) but created something very new with modern touches such as the thin, horizontal line of the taillights.
