Ford Fiesta ST Concept 5p

Between November 18 and November 27, the new Ford Fiesta ST Concept will land beyond the Atlantic, at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2011: the automotive Blue Oval has also decided to show the home market ‘fierce B-segment small car, already previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 to European fans. Yet there is something different: it is not the same appointment German prototype exhibited last September. The changes are marginal: the concept car that we will see in Los Angeles has five doors (as we witness these photographs, just disclosed by the American brand), while the prototype in Frankfurt, exposed in the heart of the Old Continent, had three doors. That’s it? The new livery of Ford Fiesta ST Concept – born from the classic version of Ford Fiesta tout court, that is, from city cars that we see daily on the road – does not change the essence of the car, his soul, but assures us that the Ford Motor Company is planning of giving birth to the new Fiesta ST is three doors with five doors, embracing a wider catchment area is likely.

The new Ford Fiesta ST Concept will be looking at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2011 has the same aesthetic characteristics of the examined concept car in Frankfurt: sport front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels more energetic, more muscular wheel arches, new front grille, new spoiler and new tailpipes. Receives the same treatment estremizzante the cockpit of the car, although the five doors of the new Ford Fiesta ST Concept is open to us in these photographs. And the mechanics? Front wheel drive, six-speed manual transmission and 1.6 liter EcoBoost gasoline turbocharged 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, coupled with revised suspension and brakes enhanced.

Following this event the U.S., the new Ford Fiesta ST will be officially unveiled as ready for commercialization at the Geneva Motor Show 2012.

Ford giving new Focus 30-mile shakedown runs

lead1 2012 ford focus fd 450x298 Ford giving new Focus 30 mile shakedown runs

If Ford has a more important vehicle launch in 2011 than that of the 2012 Focus, we certainly don’t know about it. The automaker is well-aware of the importance of the Focus, and to ensure a flawless launch, the company is going all-out.

Automotive News reports that Ford is testing the first batch of 2012 Focus models for 30 miles around the company’s Dearborn, MI test track before shipping them to dealers. AN quotes anonymous sources who say dealers asked if there was a problem during the launch that has lead to this extraordinary measure, but Ford insists that the very thorough checks are merely to ensure spot-on quality. And since the company is launching a vehicle capable of up to 40 miles per gallon at a time when gas prices are hitting $4 per gallon around the country, this is an important launch to nail.

Ford spokesperson Said Deep told AN that only the first batch of Focus models were driven for 30 miles, adding that vehicles being produced now are only given a second look at the plant. That first batch of Foci were taken back to the plant for testing after the 30 mile road test. Ford builds the Focus at the Wayne Assembly Plant, which resides only a few miles away from the automaker’s Dearborn test track. Read more…

Video: 2012 Ford Focus ST is still our orange crush

focusst630 1300895420 450x245 Video: 2012 Ford Focus ST is still our orange crush

We haven’t heard much about the 2012 Ford Focus ST lately, but never fear, it’s still destined for our shores. After all, it would be downright cruel for Ford to not offer the hottest variant of its new global Focus here in the States, especially when we’ve been denied all of the Euro-spec hot hatch fun for so long.

To recap, the Focus ST uses FoMoCo’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four, good for 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. There’s a six-speed manual gearbox to send that power to the ground, and though the car is fitted with front-wheel drive, the automaker’s torque-vectoring power control system is on hand to keep things from getting too squirrely. Inside, there are Recaro sport seats, orange trim and a thick steering wheel that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

Until the Focus ST officially hits the road, we’ll have to satisfy our craving for Blue Oval hot hatchery with this video, which you can view after the break. It’s certainly not the most exciting piece of film ever published on the Interwebs, but it’s enough to make us fall in love with the ST all over again.

Reinstall the axle through the new caliper mount bracket and secure using the original hardware for the bearing retainer plate. You can now install the rotor by sliding it over the axle. it is helpful to use a lug nut or two to hold the rotor in place while installing the calipers. The calipers are installed with the supplied hardware and must be installed with the bleeder screws pointing up. lf parking brake cables were included in your kit. install them into the caliper and connect to the vehicles parking brake system. Study reviews break-even point for hybrid vehicles

lead10escapehybrid2010review 450x298 Study reviews break even point for hybrid vehicles

Buying a hybrid is a responsible environmental move but, given their premium over standard cars, they aren’t always a money-saving purchase. A study by CarGurus showed that gas would have to top $7 a gallon to make most hybrids the economical choice.

Hybrids command, on average, a 17-percent markup over their standard-powertrain counterparts, which stunts their economy at the pump. The $7-a-gallon break even point is an average. For some cars, the break-even is point is even higher. For a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid to make you money, gas will need to climb to $15 a gallon.

On the lower side of the scale are the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Ford Escape Hybrid. The Toyota’s break-even point came out to $4 a gallon, while the Ford bucked the trend, breaking even at $2.50 a gallon. Read more…

Next-gen Ford Mustang will have global design input

01mustangprem2011review 450x294 Next gen Ford Mustang will have global design input

Automotive News is reporting that Ford will turn to its global team of designers for the look of the nextMustang. Styling themes will be served up from studios in Australia and Europe as well as other places around the world. Ford says that the practice is now standard operating procedure for most of the automaker’s new products, and that the global design approach was taken on board three years ago. J Mays, the company’s global design chief, and the rest of the vehicle’s design team will then select amongst the proposals for the design that best fits the next-generation Pony Car.

In the past, the company’s U.S. design studio was solely responsible for the vehicle’s image, but Ford has seen plenty of success from soliciting ideas from all over the world. The design of the global Ranger, for example, was submitted by artists in Australia with pointers from the company’s designers in Europe.

Right now, Ford is keeping its lips sealed about when we can expect to see the next-gen Mustang touch down, though Automotive News reports that there’s some indication that the vehicle may be as far off as 2014 or 2015.
