Chevrolet Colorado
First official image of the Chevrolet Colorado. The photo was circulated by the same Chevrolet. The compact pick-up will be presented at the 2011 Bangkok Motor Show, car show scheduled from March 25 to April 5. This new car anticipates the next generation of Colorado, who take inspiration from Chevrolet for this type of vehicle and tradition of vans and pickups that were produced by American automaker.
The world premiere is scheduled in Thailand is not random, but in this country because the pickups are very popular in the automotive market, which is becoming important for Chevrolet. In 2010, in fact, 43% of registered vehicles in Thailand were the pickups. The new Colorado will be on sale in the country during 2011 and will be progressively introduced in other markets, but has not yet been announced exactly when that will happen. The current Colorado never arrived in Italy. This model should be more technology than ever before. The price has not yet been formalized, such as information relating to technical data, engine and features included.

Prepping The Block
Disconnect battery; remove all existing accessory drive brackets and components from motor. Remove water pump, scrape away any existing gasket material with a gasket scraper and dress surface with a Scotch Briteо pad.
Clean and prep threads on engine block at water pump and driver side bosses by crank (for power steering kits), use a 3/8-16 thread chaser if necessary. Thread chasers are available at your local auto parts store or tool dealer and are different from a thread cutting tool.
Apply RTV sealer to one end of the three 3/8-16 x 3” threaded studs and thread two studs into the driver side water pump mount holes and one stud into the upper passenger side mount hole and tighten.
Apply RTV sealer to one end of the remaining 3/8-16 x 4” stud and thread into the bottom passenger side mount hole and tighten. The studs can easily be tightened by threading two 3/8-16 zinc coated nuts onto the stud and tighten them against each other to act as a drive nut.
Install Alternator & A/C Brackets
Install the large O-rings into both sides of the passenger side compressor bracket by seating them into the recessed groves, install the small by-pass O-rings in the same manner. Place bracket over studs and seat up against engine block. Install the large O-rings into both sides of the driver side alternator bracket by seating them into the recessed groves. Place bracket over studs and seat up against engine block.
For kits with power steering – apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 3/8-16 x 2” socket head cap screws and thread through the power steering bracket, alternator bracket and into engine block and finger tighten. For kits without power steering – apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 3/8-16 x 1-1/4” socket head cap screws and thread through the alternator bracket and into engine block and finger tighten.

1992-93 Chevrolet MIS-Diagnosed Power Steering Pump Noise
A whine noise emanating at the front of the vehicle that appears to be coming from the power steering pump.
The noise may actually be the result of a failed bearing in the alternator. The following procedure can help determine the source of the noise by isolating the power steering pump from the alternator (GM reference bulletin 463201).
1. Isolate the power steering pump from the alternator by installing an accessory drive belt off of a 3.4L equipped 1993 or 1994 Camaro or Firebird. Install the diagnosis belt as shown in FIGURE 1.
2. Run the engine and listen for the noise. Do not drive the vehicle with this belt attached. If the noise is gone, the power steering system is most likely at fault. If the noise remains, proceed to diagnose the remaining elements of the accessory drive including the generator.
3. After the noise is successfully corrected, remove the accessory drive belt used for diagnosis.
4. Install the original accessory drive belt.

Install Water Pump
Install water pump onto studs (make sure O-rings are still seated). Apply anti-seize to exposed stud threads. Thread the four 3” spacer nuts onto the studs with the hex end out. Tighten all spacer nuts firmly at this time. Also tighten lower 7/16” cap screws on alternator bracket or power steering bracket.
Install Power Steering Pump & Bridge Bracket
STEP 1: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 5/16-24 x 3” socket head cap screws. Place power steering pump and pulley onto bracket and thread the two 5/16” socket head cap screws with 5/16” lock washers through pump into bracket and tighten firmly.
STEP 2: Apply anti-seize to the threads of four 8mm-1.25 x 25mm 12pt. ARP cap screws. Align bridge bracket mount holes with the four spacer nuts. Install the four 8mm 12pt. ARP cap screws and tighten firmly
Install Alternator & A/C Compressor
Alternator: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the 10mm-1.5 x 8mm ARP 12pt. cap screw and a 8mm-1.25 x 25mm ARP 12pt. cap screw. Place alternator between lower bridge bracket and alternator bracket and thread the long ARP 12pt. cap screw through the bridge bracket, alternator and into the alternator bracket and finger tighten. 10mm shim washers are provided to shim the alternator boss to the bridge bracket. The alternator boss may vary in width due to the polishing process. Place the 8mm slide spacer with the small end towards bridge bracket on the short ARP 12pt. cap screw, align top alternator boss with bridge bracket and thread the cap screw and slide spacer through bridge bracket and into alternator boss and finger tighten.

Small Block Chevrolet Strip Dominator Manifold P/N 300-25 Installation Instructions
The Holley Strip Dominator manifold 300-25 has been designed for use on small block Chevrolet engines (262-400 c.i.d.) The 300-25 is to be used on 1957-86 all models and 1987 & later with aluminum heads. This is designed for competition and off-road use only. It has no provision for EGR and no exhaust heat to the manifold. This can adversely affect idle stability and part throttle operation, if used on a street-driven vehicle.
NOTE: It may be necessary to purchase some of the parts listed below (or the equivalent) in order to properly complete the manifold installation. Determination of equivalency is the responsibility of the consumer and Holley does not assume that responsibility.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: To reduce the chances of engine contamination by dirt or other foreign material, it is advisable to clean the engine exterior before starting the manifold change.
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
2. Drain the radiator (it may be necessary to remove the bottom radiator hose, if there is no drain plug in the radiator). WARNING! Be careful of hot water and steam, if engine is still warm.
3. Disconnect the throttle linkage.
4. Remove the gas cap to relieve pressure from the fuel system. Disconnect and plug the fuel line at the carburetor. Remove the carburetor.
5. Tag and remove the coil wires and coil bracket.
6. Remove the top alternator bracket. Remove the top radiator hose (complete with thermostat housing). Remove the thermostat. Remove the distributor cap.

GM to launch special edition Camaro every six months

You think there were a lot of special editions of the Bugatti Veyron? The Europeans ain’t got nothin’ on muscle cars when it comes to low-volume derivatives. And for its part, Chevrolet doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Just the opposite, in fact… at least, that is, according to the latest reports.
Word has it that Chevy is planning on rolling out a new special edition Camaro every six months for – hold on while we take out our trusty old Autoblog abacus – two each year! The new ZL1 that debuted in Chicago is said to be the first in a long line that is expected to be followed by a new Transformers edition for the upcoming sequel Dark of the Moon. After that we should see run of 500 replicas of the Camaro SS Convertible that’s set to pace the Indianapolis 500, and then a limited-edition Camaro Synergy that’ll offer buyers a V6 with all the performance bits you’d expect from the V8.
If the reports prove accurate, that ought to take us through the end of next year. Beyond that, Chevrolet reportedly plans on tapping in to other historic Camaro variants for future specials. Have a thought or two on the subject? Tell us what special Camaro you’d like to see next – you never know who might be listening. Read more…
Detroit 2011: 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is not an Aveo
General Motors seems intent on banishing all memories of the unloved Aveo – so much so that it’s gone and renamed its entry-level fighter in the States. While we’re still not 100-percent in love with the name (we can’t get visions of spiky-haired hedgehogs out of our heads…), all three flavors of the Sonic do appear to be vastly improved over the machine they replace, though one of them, the Z Spec, is still in the concept stage.
More than anything else, they look vastly better both inside and out, but until we get a stint behind the wheel we’ll hold off final judgment. According to Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, “The all-new Chevrolet Sonic blends the practicality of a small car with the passion for driving that Chevrolet vehicles like the Corvette are known for.” That won’t be the only time you’ll ever hear someone mention the Sonic in the same sentence as the Corvette. In fact, Chevy tells us that Corvette engineers are responsible for the ride and handling of the sub-compact.

2012 Chevy Sonic shown off as sedan and hatchback
General Motors has officially yanked back the sheets on the newest sub-compact from Chevrolet, the 2012 Sonic. Just don’t call it the Aveo. The five-door hatch and four-door sedan are set to be officially unveiled later today at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, but the Bow Tie brand has been kind enough to share the skinny on this vehicle that’s supposed to tango with the likes of the new Hyundai Elantra and the Ford Fiesta. The Sonic will be available with a standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, though buyers can opt up for a turbocharged 1.4-liter producing 138 horsepower, which GM underscores is 18 ponies more than the Fiesta. Shifting duties are handled by either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
In fact, it’s clear that The General had its sights locked on the Fiesta from the get go. The Sonic hatchback packs more back seat room than its Blue Oval competitor and, with the rear bench folded flat, delivers more cargo room, as well.
