2011 Volvo S60 T5

On the us market volvo car maker has updated offer of Volvo S60 T5 series, Volvo S60 is currently offered exclusively with a turbocharged straight-six engine developing 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet (440 Nm) of torque, but that could soon become the range topping version. This is due to recent Swedish media have reported that the automaker plans to introduce a new five-cylinder model for the North American market with the S60 model year 2012.

The new five-cylinder version is planned to develop 250 horsepower, while improving the current S60 18/26 mpg (13 / 9 litres/100 km) Assessment of the EPA fuel economy, Auto Motor Sport and reports. Power is sent to the front wheels through Volvo’s second-generation 6-speed automatic Geartronic transmission. The updated offer of S60 T5 FWD model is also accompanied by a special introductory lease rate plan of $299/month, available until February 28, 2011, which starts at $30,795, excluding an $875 destination fee. The current six-cylinder model is priced from $37,700. The T5 variant could also come with a front-wheel-drive and a six-speed automatic transmission with geartronic.

The Volvo S60 T5 FWD equipped some features includes: power driver seat with memory, power folding rear head restraints, front and rear sport seats, leather steering wheel with metal inlays, dual-zone air conditioning, infotainment and 8-speaker sound system, Bluetooth hands-free phone interface, T-Tec textile upholstery and 17-inch alloys.

Compared to the existing six-cylinder version, the smaller T5 will also be missing a few standard features, such as auto dimming rearview mirror/compass (added to Premium Package), Dynamic Chassis (part of new Dynamic Package), Homelink, speed sensitive steering, leather seats (standard is T-Tec/Textile, leather is added option in Premium Package), as well as 18-inch alloy wheels (with 17-inch Balder to come as standard).

In addition there safety systems, such as Corner Traction Control by torque vectoring, Advanced Stability Control, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS) and a host of airbags.
