2011 Mazda MX-5 GT Lightweight Review

On the topspeed.com write, Mazda car maker has will going to compete in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship 2011 with a new car racing, 2011 Mazda MX-5 GT Lightweight, that remains true to its roots’ but packs more power and performance. The model Mx-5 has been created in cooperation with Tunbridge Wells-based Jota Sport and weights only 1873 lbs. The MX-5 GT Race Car ready to compete for speed with Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus, and BMW.

With a higher power output combined with the durability, reliability and handling attributes that the MX-5 is renowned for; the MX-5 GT race car will be strong contender against the more powerful race cars in its class,”




The MAZDA MX-5 GT has been examined by the race engineering team Jota Sport, who inspected all of the car’s components and put them on a diet. The car comes with a protective tubular shell that took 400 hours to build, an adjusted suspension, a 6-speed sequential gearbox and a modified engine which now sits lower and produces 275 bhp. The exterior then received carbon doors and polycarbonate windows before the entire thing was painted in Spirited Green metallic combined with orange and gray graphics.
The Mazda did just that with the addition of a roll cage, race seats and harness, external electric cut-off and fire extinguisher, safety catches on the bonnet and boot lids, a competition steering wheel, and alloy wheels. The Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship in which the MAZDA MX-5 GT race car will compete will begin with a three hour endurance race at the Silvertone circuit on March 26th at 3.00 pm.
